This Kiyomizu-Yaki Tea Bowl Has A Straight-Walled Shape And Is Decorated In A Unique Style Called Nejiri-Sogimon , Giving A Literal “Twist” To The Classic Sogi Style. Sogi, Also Known As Sogime Or Sogimon, Is A Traditional Vertically Fluted Ceramic Decorative Style. On This Tea Bowl, The Grooves Are Twisted To Give A More Organic, Wavy Impression. On A Textured Matte Black Base, The Bowl Features Flecks Of Green, Blue, And Turquoise.
Please Note: The Surface Of This Bowl Is Very Rough And May Wear Away The Chasen And Chakin.
This Tea Bowl Was Made By Toshiya Iguri Of Toshiya Kiln. Born In 1962, Mr. Ikura Opened His Own Kiln In 1984 And Has Since Become Known For His Unique Interpretations Of Classic Styles.
Kiyomizu-Yaki Is A Type Of Japanese Pottery Traditionally From The Gojozaka District Near Kiyomizu-Dera Temple In Kyoto, Japan. Kiyomizu-Yaki Is A Subset Of Kyo-Yaki And Refers To All Pottery Made In The Kyoto Region, Kiyomizu-Yaki Has Been Produced Since The 16Th Century
