Bizen-Yaki Is Japanese Pottery, Traditional It Came From Bizen Province And Is Now Part Of Okayama Prefecture In Japan. Bizen Is The Site Of One Of Japan’S Six Ancient Kilns, Which Have Been Making Pottery Since At Least The 14Th Century.
Fired At High Temperatures For A Long Time In A Wood-Fired Kiln, Bizen-Yaki Is Known For Its Earthy Color And Lack Of Traditional Glazes. Since Clay Has A High Shrinkage Rate, It Is Not Suitable For Glazing. Instead, The Designs Found On Bizen Porcelain Result From Kiln Effects, Including Glaze-Like Traces Of Melted Ash And Marks Produced By Firing In A Wood-Burning Kiln.
