This Maru-Gata Tokoname Yaki Kyusu Is Made Of Tokoname Black Clay With A White Glaze And Is Decorated With A Delicate Pattern Of Moogake . As The Name Suggests, This Traditional Tokoname Technique Dating Back To The Edo Period Is Achieved By Wrapping Each Piece In Sweet Algae Before Firing. In The Kiln, The Seaweed Burns Away, Leaving A Carbonized Outline Covering The Pot.
Its Built-In Ceramic Sesame Strainer Is Perfect For Naturally Straining Tea, And Its Wide Shape Allows For Faster Pouring And Less Clogging.
Made By Shōhō Kiln.
Tokoname Yaki Is A Type Of Japanese Pottery, Traditionally From Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Tokoname Is The Site Of One Of Japan’S Six Ancient Kilns, Which Have Been Producing Pottery Since The 12Th Century.
